Wheeling Community Resource Center... a connection to local resources 54 North Wolf Road Wheeling, IL 60090 (847) 808-1454 Monday-Friday 9-5 Wednesday 9-7 A joint project of the Village of Wheeling and OMNI Youth Services with financial support from Cook County Block Grant Development Funds. Our Goal is to empower the community of Wheeling through orientation, intervention, and linkage to area resources. The following services, information, and referrals that we offer allow us to fulfill our mission of improving community participation: All Services are available in English and Spanish Those who are not Wheeling residents will be referred to services in their area. Health Services There are a variety of dental, medical, prenatal, immunization and other health services available through the Cook County Department of Public Health. The cost for these services is minimal and free to those who qualify. Visit the resource Center for a full list of available services, locations, and times. The Cook County Department of Public Health has a representative at the WCRC every third Thursday of the month to enroll families in Access to Care, a low cost medicalcare program, Healthy Moms/ Healthy Kids, and to give information on the many programs the CCDPH offers. Wheeling Police Department Cpl. John Teevans from the Wheeling Police Dept. is available to the WCRC to answer questions relating to police matters and to take fingerprints for citizenship applicants and for Child Identification Cards. Northwest Community Legal Center, Chartered The Northwest Community Legal Center gives legal and notary services to all people, services are available on a sliding scale fee basis. Ellen Rae Schechtman is the attorney working for the Legal Center. The Legal Center handles most types of cases including: The Legal Center does not handle criminal or domestic violence matters, but will refer these and other matters to the proper agencies. Citizenship Application Process The WCRC can aid residents of Wheeling in their process of becorning naturalized citizens of the United States. The WCRC can fill out the N-400 application and take fingerprints. Through Township School District 214 the WCRC is able to offer citizenship preparation courses. Stop in at the Resource Center for a schedule of the classes. Employment Program Job Bank The employment program has two facets. The first is to actively recruit businesses to participate in our Job Bank. The second is to work with individuals seeking employment to prepare them for job interviews, set employment goals for the future, and to use the Job Bank to find available positions that fit their individual experience.
